CSCS Green Labourer Card – Eligibility & Requirements
The CSCS Labourer Card is for unskilled construction workers and should not be used by those working in skilled trades. The card confirms that the holder is not following an approved training pathway or qualification route. Skilled workers with a Labourer Card may be refused site access, making it important to apply for the correct CSCS card for your role.
Criteria
- In addition to CITB Test, learner should also hold one of the following
- Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in Construction Environment.
- CITB Health and Safety Awareness Course
- Other one day labourer courses approved by CSCS

The CSCS Labourer Card is first issued for a two-year period. Upon expiry, cardholders who are still working in a labouring role can apply for a five-year renewal by completing the Labourer Card Renewal Declaration Form and confirming they remain employed as a labourer.
Renewal: Your CSCS Card must be renewed within 11 months of its expiry date. If renewal is requested after this period, you will be required to provide a valid copy of your qualification certificate, and show proof of having successfully completed the CITB Test within the last 2 years. You can also renew your CSCS Card 6 months prior to the expiry date.
CSCS Card Replacement: Need a replacement for your CSCS Card? You can order a new one anytime, as long as your current card is still valid.
